National Science Day, observed on February 28th, honors the groundbreaking discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman.
To mark the occasion, students from grades 5 to 9 engaged in a captivating educational experience. They were treated to PowerPoint presentations showcasing scientific breakthroughs and captivating videos detailing experiments and research conducted by Sir C.V. Raman himself. Following this, students participated in a quiz, testing their knowledge on science and development, thus encouraging active engagement and fostering a passion for scientific inquiry among the youth.
Fireless cooking was held on 29th February 2024 by Scout and Guide students of Std VIII.
It provides a platform to foster their creativity and decision making skills and also to explore their hidden talents.
The assortment of delicacies presented was a feast for the eyes, each dish a work of culinary art.
"Gratitude Gala: A Day of Unity and Appreciation"
Our institution celebrated Gratitude Day on March 18, 2024, with a harmonious blend of appreciation and camaraderie.
The day commenced with heartfelt exchanges of cards between teachers and students, fostering mutual respect and admiration.
A special celebration, orchestrated by the management, honored our dedicated staff. Beginning with a solemn Eucharistic service, the day transitioned into joyous games, strengthening bonds among colleagues.
The highlight was a delightful lunch provided by the management , cementing our sense of gratitude and unity.
As the day concluded, hearts brimmed with appreciation for one another, leaving an indelible mark on our collective spirit.
The English Club's Talent Show 2024 was a resounding success, highlighting the diverse creativity and talent of our students while emphasizing sustainability. From intricate nail art to elegant saree dupatta styling, from the delicate folds of origami to the artistry of hair braiding, our students showcased their skills with finesse. Additionally, activities like accessories making, flower crafting, and chalk art added layers of creativity to the event.
What truly set this event apart was its commitment to minimal wastage. Through thoughtful planning and execution, we ensured that every aspect of the Talent Show contributed to our sustainability goals. As a result, Gratitude Day 2024 was not only enjoyable for all but also left behind zero waste, setting a commendable example for future events.
Thinking Day Guide Competition
Our school enthusiastically participated in the Thinking Day Guide Competition held at VPM's Vidya Mandir School in Dahisar. The event featured various activities, including a March Past, Rangoli Making Competition, and Best Out Of Waste Competition, aimed at celebrating the spirit of guiding.
We are delighted to announce that our school secured the 2nd place in the Rangoli Competition. This achievement is a testament to the creativity and teamwork demonstrated by our students. Each participant was honored with a medal and a participation certificate, acknowledging their dedication and effort in the competition.
Furthermore, our school received an overall trophy, recognizing our collective performance across all activities. This trophy symbolizes the hard work and commitment of our students, teachers, and staff members.
The event provided an excellent platform for our students to showcase their talents, foster team spirit, and celebrate the guiding principles. We extend our gratitude to the organizers for hosting such a successful event and look forward to participating in future competitions.
The NGO associated with the Times of India conducted a session emphasizing the importance of segregating dry and wet waste. They highlighted the hazards of plastic usage, discussed various types of plastic, and explored innovative methods for plastic reuse. Additionally, they provided strategies to reduce plastic consumption, fostering a greater awareness of environmental sustainability."
Marathi Diwas
On 16th February 2024, our school commemorated the birth anniversary of the revered Maratha warrior King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with a vibrant and spirited rally. The event was organized with the aim of paying homage to Shivaji Maharaj's legacy and instilling a sense of pride in Maharashtrian culture among the students.
The atmosphere was charged with patriotism and cultural fervor as students enthusiastically participated in various activities. Powade-traditional Marathi ballads narrating the heroic deeds of Shivaji Maharaj, reverberated through the air, stirring emotions and inspiring admiration for the legendary leader.
Students donned elaborate costumes depicting iconic figures from Shivaji Maharaj's era, including Jijamata, Maval warriors, and Shivaji Maharaj himself. The colorful array of attire added to the visual spectacle and brought history to life within the school premises.
Furthermore, the rally echoed with the resonant beats of Lezim, a traditional Maharashtrian martial art form, which further heightened the sense of energy and excitement among the participants and spectators alike.
"The farewell ceremony for the Std X students was conducted over two days, beginning with a prayer service on 6th February organized by Std VIII students, followed by the farewell event on 7th February organized by Std IX students. The ceremony aimed to commemorate the students' 12 years of school life and celebrate their transition to a new phase."

The prayer service, led by Std VIII students, was held in the school auditorium.
It provided a space for meditation and introspection on the virtues and values acquired during the students' time in school.
The service offered an opportunity for both students and teachers to reflect on their journey together.
"The farewell ceremony, organized by Std IX students, occurred on February 7. It featured a captivating fusion of dance, drama, singing, a fashion show, and numerous spot prizes. Teachers, alongside Principal Sr. Zarina, delivered a medley of songs to inspire the departing students for their upcoming endeavors, creating moments they will cherish for a lifetime."

On January 29th, our school embarked on an exciting adventure to Imagica, a thrilling amusement park nestled in the heart of nature. The air buzzed with anticipation as students and teachers alike eagerly boarded the buses, their faces adorned with smiles and excitement. As we arrived at the park, a wave of exhilaration swept over us, fueled by the sight of towering roller coasters, colorful attractions, and the promise of unforgettable experiences. Throughout the day, laughter filled the air as we braved thrilling rides, explored themed zones, and indulged in delicious treats. Bonding moments were abundant as we shared in the joy of each adrenaline-pumping adventure. With hearts full and spirits lifted, we bid farewell to Imagica, knowing that this day would be etched in our minds forever as a cherished chapter in our school journey.
Republic Day
"On the vibrant morning of January 26th, an inter-school parade, radiating patriotism and community spirit was held at Bandra. Students from various schools gathered, adorned in their respective uniforms, eagerly awaiting their turn to march proudly through the streets. The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as each school contingent showcased their unique talents and formations, accompanied by spirited cheers from the spectators lining the parade route. Flags fluttered in the breeze, echoing the unity and diversity of the nation. It was a day of celebration, fostering camaraderie among students and fostering a deep sense of national pride in all who participated.
Republic Day
The 75th Republic Day was celebrated with immense enthusiasm at our school. Guests were escorted to their seats by a lively band and warmly welcomed with potted plants. The ceremony commenced with the dignitaries hoisting the flag, accompanied by the National Anthem and a pledge. Following this, a prayer service was held, invoking a sense of unity and reverence. Students showcased their patriotism through stirring renditions of patriotic songs, further uplifting the spirit of the occasion. Engaging speeches in both English and Hindi were delivered, emphasizing the significance of Republic Day and its values. To conclude the festivities on a vibrant note, students performed a spirited patriotic dance, symbolizing unity and diversity. The celebration served as a poignant reminder of the importance of our nation's principles and the collective responsibility to uphold them.

The Annual day was held on 15th December 2023. The chief guest for the day was Dr. Sr. Mudita Menona Sodder and the guest of honour Dr. Fr. Sajith Cyriac
. The theme for the Annual Day 2023 was Aakar, the main focus of the celebration was Sustainable Development. The students of Std 5 to 10 th showcased their talents with perfection. It was a memorable day, a time to look back at our accomplishments and look forward to new challenges.. A day that brings together the entire school community, celebrate achievements and inspires students to strive for excellence.

Christmas party was held for the students in their respective classes along with their guests and class teacher. Gifts were exchanged among students and teachers. A beautiful Crib by std 7 depicting the birth of Jesus Christ was put up in the quadrangle .
To add colors to the occasion Christmas celebration in the school auditorium for the staff was well organised by the school management . Prayer service was conducted by the Primary section and thereafter Carols were sung by Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary and ICSE sections. It was a time of love and joy to spread the true meaning of Christmas.

The Miss Bertha Pereira Memorial Inter-School Competition, ' Indian Bling ', was held on 1st September 2023 at St. Joseph's School, Orlem Malad West.

The North Mumbai Suburban Bharat Scouts & Guides Dist. Association, Malad West Mumbai conducted the Bharat Scout Master and Guide Captain training from 16th October to 22nd October 2023 at Carmel of St. Joseph School, Malad West.
They were a total of 15 Scout Master (including a woman as a Scout Master) and 18 Guide Captain. Participated in the training.
On the Orientation day all were welcomed. Training was imparted for both practical and theory , field work and one day outing as a foot hike.
21st and 22nd October was also celebrated at JOTA and JOTI 2023 in the same campus. (Jamboree on Air, Jamboree on the Internet)
On 22nd October Sunday was the felicitation. All left the camp with a happy memory, more skills added to our knowledge as well as a new title as Scout Master and Guide Captain.

The students of Std 10 attended a retreat on 19th and 20th August at Dyanashram, Rajodi, Nalasopara. The girls had a spirit filled experience and were empowered to face this crucial year. They spend their time in prayer and meditation. It was conducted by Br. Savio Fernandes and team.

On the occasion of The 77th Independence day of our country, Ms Ruju Shah topper of the SSC board exam 2022-23 along with her parents hoisted the flag. A short prayer service was conducted in the auditorium and then the students who topped in different subjects were felicitated for their outstanding performance in the board exam. Our first topper Ms Ruju, second topper Ms Nayomee and third topper Ms Dolly spoke about their experience which helped the students to gain insights about achieving academic excellence.

Patrol Leader Training
The North Mumbai Scout and Guide District Association Malad (W), held a Patrol Leader Training at COSJ. 21 schools from North Mumbai participated in the said Training . Around 150+ students were trained and guided by the Office bearers of the Maharashtra Scout and Guide . Mrs Gavit and Mr.Naik from the Department were also present at the event.

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was celebrated on 14th July 2023 which began with the inaugural of a new grotto of St. Joseph blessed by Rev.Fr Ruben followed by the Eucharistic celebration in the school auditorium and the distribution of Mount Carmel scapulars to the catholic students.
To add more colours to the occasion certificates were handed over by Rev. Fr Ruben to the teachers in charge of various houses for the competition titled Our Lady of Mount Carmel

The Investiture Ceremony was held on 26th June 23. Keeping responsibility and leadership in mind the school Cabinet was formed.It included Head girl Ms Angel Lasrado , Assitant Head girl Ms Gracia D'mello, House Captains , Assistant House Captains, Club leaders and S.P.Ms.
The leaders took the oath to uphold the rules and regulations of the school.The motto of the ceremony was Ignite to Inspire, Innovate and Integrate.

The two days Orientation programme for teachers was held on 12th and 13th June respectively by Fr. Ittoop Panikulam and Mr. Merwin Noronha along with Mr. Jameer Mokashi who provided valuable insights about stress reduction and leading healthier balanced lives. Emphasis were laid on the different roles of a teacher which help in shaping students for a better future.

International Yoga Day was celebrated in the school on June 21st 2023 wherein many Yoga asanas were performed stating its benefits that helps in controlling an individual's mind, body and soul. The 9th National Peace Convention was held at Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi from 30th January to 1st February wherein our Principal Sr. Zarina, Ms Clara our student Ruju along with her parent attended the programme . It was an enlightening session that focussed on Mahatma Gandhi and his contribution to peace building and how each of us need to become ambassadors of peace and make this journey on earth peaceful for all,thereby spreading love, peace and harmony.

On 2nd December 2022, 8 teachers and 30 students had the golden opportunity of attending the traditional Beating Retreat and Tattoo Ceremony organised by the Indian Navy at the Gateway of India. The historic event included synchronised musical performances by the Naval officers. The drill by the marine commandos displayed speedy rescue missions. The helicopter slowly rising from behind the Monument was one of the many captivating moments that evening. An aerial salute by the chopper Chetak bolstered the patriotic sentiment among each one present. The programme concluded with the dance performance of the Sea Cadets.
CYBERSAFE MUMBAI
In the wake of increasing Cybercrimes, the Mumbai Police organised a Poster Making Competition in the School for Std. 5th to 10th on 1st December to increase awareness.

There was an orchestra organised for the students of Std V to X on 21st November by the Divine Blind Musicians (Divine charitable trust) Students enjoyed the show and also contributed towards the trust.
The Green line organised a workshop on Composting at Don Bosco, Matunga on Saturday 19th November. It was a good experience for our students who learnt how to convert 'Trash into Treasure'. Carmel of St Joseph participated in Brihan Mumbai Marathi examination in 2021-22. Students of std 10 participated in this inter-school examination. School received trophy for maximum participation. And Siddhi Thakur got a certificate for securing second place.
Niya Viji Puthusseri - Std 10th participated in 'P' ward Vigyan melava 2022 on 7 th September at Children's Academy and got the participation certificate for the same.
Carmel of St Joseph organised a seminar on Building Relationships for parents and students on 16th September. Speakers for the day were Mr. Mervin Noronho an academic coach, public speaker and education management consultant since 27 years and Mr. Jameer Mokashi a counsellor, motivator and corporate and political coach.
International Literacy day was celebrated in the school from 8th September onwards.
Awareness lectures on Digital/Computer literacy,Social & Emotional Literacy were conducted.
An online session was conducted on the topic 'Trash Talk' on 10th September. The session was about the importance of beach cleaning and to promote beach clean up campaign. The goal of beach cleanups is to raise awareness in the population about marine pollution and contribute with it the reduction of garbage and plastic in the ocean. Thousands of marine animals worldwide have been affected by plastic pollution, including sea turtles, seabirds and marine mammals. Therefore, Beach clean - ups are vital to mitigate the problem caused by ocean debris and the danger that plastic pollution poses to marine life. 17th of September is celebrated as 'International Beach Cleaning Day', where some of the schools will be going and cleaning the beaches.
Green Washing
On 8th September, 2022, We the students of Std.IX attended a session on Green Washing at St. Dominic Savio High School in Andheri East. The founder Pooja Domadia and Mansi Shah made us aware about green washing. They explained how the companies brain wash us by stating that they have eco-friendly products but in reality they are not so. So it means that just because the product looks great with plants it doesn't mean that it is actually green. We were also taught how to identify hidden plastic.
National sports day was celebrated on the 29th August commemorating the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand.

Four students along with a parent as they attended the wonderful trail. Where they got information about the mangroves and the varieties of species that serve as a habitat to these areas. The breathing roots were a breath-taking view. Children were explained how mangroves take care of the urban pollution, contain species that provides medicines, floral attraction, honeybees feeding on honey and providing the same.

On 15th June 2022, the portal of Carmel of St. Joseph welcomed our Carmelite Girls with an enthusiastic, joyous smile and a warm heart. Students were extremely thrilled to see their new class teachers, friends and new classmates. The first two periods, the class teachers introduced the new theme "We Shall Overcome." along with the action plan, rules and regulations and heart to heart interaction. The remaining three periods were taken by their subject teachers for the day. The day came to an end with the first half of the day and a new hope for the new academic year 2022-2023.
17th June was a non instructional day. The school held their first Parent-Teacher Association meeting for grade 5th to 10th. The meeting was conducted by the respective class teachers, at the end of the meeting election was held to elect the new PTA representative.
This day also saw the fight against the deadly corona virus through the Vaccination Drive it was successful drive for students aged 13 to 16 years. The students were accompanied with their parents for the vaccination.
21st June:- Yoga strengthens your body, mind and soul. Yoga is all about striking a balance in life. On this day, a meaningful prayer service was conducted enlightening the benefits of yoga. Students of class VIII practiced yoga with various asanas and exercises. Students enjoyed and had a relaxed temperament.
28th June,The ‘Investiture Ceremony’ for academic year 2022-23 was held on 28th June 2022 with great solemnity. There was an aura of expectancy as the beaming faces of the selected council were bestowed upon with the responsibility and they received their prestigious badges and sashes from their respective House Mistress and Club Leaders The Council Members then administered the oath where in students pledged to serve the school and fulfill their responsibilities to the best of their abilities.

The second session of the orientation was by the eloquent, creative, popular and spiritual Deacon Ivan Fernandes from the Archdiocese of Bombay.
Teachers were given important lessons on how to motivate students for job, career and a worthy vocation.
Teachers learnt to be altruistic to oneself as well as others, stop becoming a victim rather be a victor in life, how to grow to be an optimistic person rather than looking at life with a pessimistic lens, an analogy of "Icarus's Wings taught teachers to have a balance in their life.
They further learnt on healthy physical and emotional health, Using the 3 H's (Head, Health, Hand)will help teachers discover their students IQ, EQ, skills and agility with their hands.
Teachers ended their day with bonding, birthday celebration, laughter, cheers and a great applause as a sign of gratitude for a wonderful Teacher's Orientation Program.
