- Motivating our students to build a better world, and like our Foundress, work for the promotion of the “kingdom through abnegation, hard work and trust in God”.
GOAL:
To promote the integral growth of each person in her/his uniqueness in order to enable the members of the school community to collaborate with others in assuming responsibility for today’s reality, thereby building a civilization of love(Kingdom).
OBJECTIVES:
To foster integral growth of each person we will:
ENABLE every person to become an agent for the promotion of justice, peace, harmony and live in communion in a pluralistic society.
EMPOWER our students to make valid positive contributions to family, society and country.
Our C.S.S.T educational focus
- 1. Spiritual
Faith and Value – Formation
The C.S.S.T School/College while respecting the freedom and personal conscience of each one, will give top priority to Religious and Value – Education and evaluate its effectiveness at least annually.
Our students will be enable to develop a deep relationship with God in prayer, which leads them to search or find, accept God’s will in all the aspects of their life.
This is done through:
- Helping them integrate faith with life.
- Providing them with adequate knowledge and appreciation of all religious.
- Imparting religious and moral values by creative use of syllabi, programmes and inter-faith celebrations.
- Every effort should be made to create and maintain an atmosphere in our Institutions that is congenial and promotes Management-Staff-Student relationships on the personal level
- 2. Social
- Have a special concern for the dispossessed and marginalized in society, making our students aware of unjust, social reality and its consequences.
- Work for communal harmony at all levels, being deeply convinced of the common Fatherhood of God, and the bond of fellowship among all human beings. This spirit will b instilled in our students.
- Motivate our students to be agents for social change, and bring about a transformation, wherever they live and work.
Thus: Provide Human Rights Education to our students and encourage Pro-Active Programmes in this regard when needed.
- Empower women and the girl child by helping them attain their rights and live in dignity.
3. NON FORMAL EDUCATION:
The awareness of human rights and the demand for cent percent literacy and essential skills, have resulted in an explosion of universal literacy.
Wherever possible, we shall impart non formal education to: school drop-outs, the poor who are not admitted into regular schools / because of poverty, adult illiterates, workers who desire to learn a particular language, women who need elementary knowledge o: life and living and others requiring this type of education,
4. INTELLECTUAL - moral - CULTURAL
- While the C.S.S.T. schools/colleges help the students to strive for academic excellence in a spirit of acquiring and applying knowledge, and of collaboration, rather than competition, we will measure our success more in terms of the poor whom we empower, and the number of poor who are able to take their rightful place in the normal class room set-up.
- Value transmission being an integral part of education, heart values, rather than head values, should be inculcated: freedom, compassion, enerosity, simplicity, dignity of labour, participation, solidarity and brotherhood, tolerance, honesty forgiveness and prayer.
- Apart from having a regular planned syllabi and time set apart for Value Education, values are to be imparted through the various subjects taught.
- Respect and appreciation for our rich Indian culture is fostered. Certain forms of inculturation in terms of dress, celebration of feasts, decorations etc are to be encouraged.
5. EDUCATION FOR JUSTICE :
In the spirit of our Foundress, if we are to promote the 'Kingdom’ and in this process, bring about liberation, then the spirit of faith and justice should permeate our institutions.
Through an ongoing evaluation, we will re-evaluate our priorities programmes, policies and the growth of persons we serve. As a result of periodic evaluation, we will be conscious of the need for justice towards all we work with and work for. This will be meted out through:
- Salary revision for our teaching and non teaching Staff , from time to time.
- Supplying the basic needs of our students: clean drinking water, clean toilets, sufficient space in the class room etc.
- Enabling our students to grow in the spirit of sharing so that blessings of creation will be enjoyed by all.
6. ECO-ORIENTED EDUCATION
Awareness leading to actions should be included in all the students/staff/parents neighborhood concerning the fact that we live on a poisoned earth with thousands of people dying each day from all types of pollution.
There is also a prime need to discover the inter-connectedness all creation and to work towards harmony and integration of creation.
In the light of this eco-destruction, there is an urgent call for arousing eco-consciousness at all levels - a consciousness that leads to pro-active programmes such as:
- encouraging tree planting, use of compost manure, biogas solar energy, vegetable, fruit and herbal gardens
- Encouraging eco-consciousness among our sisters, staff and students and others we serve in the field of social apostolate.
- Preventing de-forestation and pollution.
- Teaching people to appreciate nature.
- Joining N.G.O's to fight against pollution-water, air, noise, food adulteration.
